Fact-Checking workshop was taken place within the scope of the project titled “Utilizing Digital Technology by Increasing Cooperation, Exchange and Solidarity for Social Cohesion, Positive Messaging and Peace”.

The online talk titled “Algorithms and the Role of Big Tech Companies in Hate Speech” moderated by Assoc. Dr. Tirşe Erbaysal Filibeli and was given by Imran Ahmed, the founder and director of Center for Countering Digital Hate.

The Middle East Region Hate Speech Inclusive Discourse Meeting was held at the Hrant Dink Foundation with the collaboration of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience Europe on 20-21-22 July in Havak Hall.

We met at the Hrant Dink Foundation Festival of Co-existence on July 2-3, 2022 at Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center. You can watch the videos of the panels organized during the festival here.

Hrant Dink Foundation translated Article 19’s ‘Hate Speech’ Explained: A Toolkit into Turkish, adapted it to the Turkish context and published.

The online talk titled “Artificial intelligence and hate speech: Opportunities and risks” was held on January 25, 2022. We talked about hate speech detection with artificial intelligence with Claudia von Vacano and Stefanie Ullmann.

The first online workshop on discussion of news items within the scope of Media Watch on Hate Speech project was held on November 17, 2020, with facilitation of Ebru Özdeş and Şeyma Özkan from the Project. 

Media watch report includes annual results along with quantitative and qualitative analyses of hate speech data for 2019 and the discriminatory discourse reports which focuses on a topics that stood out in 2019 is now available online. 

Based on the Positive Messengers project, which aims to combat online hate speech for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Europe, experiences about online tools and methods in combating hate speech were shared.
