Media watch report covering the January-April 2017 period and including quantitative and qualitative analyses of instances of hate speech against national, ethnic and religious identities is published.

In the report issued with the collaboration of Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation, how the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia was covered in the media in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey was examined.

In the workshop moderated by Mahmut Çınar and İdil Engindeniz, issues such as discrimination, hate speech and right-based journalism were discussed through different examples of news stories and opinion columns.

Under the moderation of Feyza Akınerdem, Banu Güven, Emine Uçak Erdoğan and Melis Alphan discussed the represantation of women in media and their experiences as women journalists.

In the panel moderated by Nurcan Akad, peace journalism in Turkey and the role of media in the periods of conflict had been discussed with the participation of Sevda Alankuş, Mete Çubukçu and Murat Çelikkan.

With the participation of Aycan Demirel from Kreuzberg Initiative against Anti-Semitism (KIgA) and Johannes Baldauf from Amadeu Antonio Foundation (AAS), neo-Nazi racism, hate speech and anti-Semitism in Germany were discussed.

As part of the collaboration with Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Communication, students taking the course "Independent Interdisciplinary Work" participate in the media monitoring process.

The panel was held with the participation of Jonathon Lee, Communication Coordinator of European Roma Rights Center, and Turkey Coordinator of the Global Media Monitoring Project Prof. Dr. Nezih Orhon.

The  discriminatory discourse report is based on the media monitoring of the discriminatory discourse produced with regard to April 24th, Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day between the years of 1995 and 2015.

The report covering January - April 2015 is based on the analysis of hate speech towards national, ethnic and religious identities along with content targeting LGBTI individuals and women.

With the contribution of Istanbul Bilgi University Children’s Studies Unit and Hayat Sende Youth Academy Association, the media-children relation and the representation of children under legal protection in the media were discussed.

Based on the prominent findings of the Media Watch on Hate Speech project, discriminatory discourse and hate speech in the media directed against religious and ethnic identities were discussed.

In the panel 'Combating Discriminatory Discourse: Theoretical Discussions & European Experience regarding Hate Speech Laws', the boundaries between freedom of expression and hate speech and European hate speech laws were discussed.

With the contribution of Hatice Çetinkaya and Nilay Vardar, combating discrimination and discriminatory discourse against Roma people in the media and the representation of them especially in the mainstream media were discussed.

In collaboration with AccessAbility Istanbul Exhibition, the representation of persons with disabilities in the media and discriminatory discourse against persons with disabilities in the print media were discussed.
