Dear friends of the Hrant Dink Foundation,
We would like to share with you the events planned for the month of December. These interestings events are an opportunity to discover the cross-roads of history, culture and visual narratives.
On December 12, Zeynep Gürsel will examine the expatriation photographs dating between 1896 and 1908, taken to prevent the return of Ottoman Armenians. With this striking presentation we will learn the stories behind the photos.
On December 16, Eric Nazarian will hold a presentation on how cinema shaped the global visual culture and stories of exile and the story of Armenians in cinema during this period.
In addition to these discussions, at the workshop “Embroidering Memories”, under the guidance of Damla Sandal, memory and art will come together when participants reproduce photographs of their choosing with embroidery.
We hope these events open up avenues for new and mind-opening discussions on the impact of history and visual culture on the present day. We invite all of you to participate in these creative and instructive experiences.
We would also like to share the speech of our Programmes Director Nayat Karaköse which she presented on behalf of the foundation at the UN Forum on Minority Issues held on November 28-29.
