The Hrant Dink Foundation’s 2013 agenda has hit the shelves. The theme of this year is “Borders” and as in previous years, the agenda comes up in three languages - Turkish, English and Armenian.

One of the words that can strikingly summarize the history of humanity: “Border”. “Limits” and “infinitives”, the two concepts that we create ourselves yet struggle endlessy to eliminate are the most important markers of the history of humanity. The definition of humanity contains the principle of overcoming borders. In this sense, our history is essentially the history of borders that could be or could not be transcended.

The 2013 Agenda - Borders, published by the Hrant Dink Foundation, covers “our problem” since the beginning of humanity, that of ‘borders’; from geographical borders to social borders and from the borders of the human mind to the borders between individuals.

Borders 2013 invites us to look closer to this history: Borders in our daily lives; Terminus, the boundary stone that was used to protect boundaries of a property; the illusory border between “this World” and the “other World” inherited from the Middle Age; African borders drawn with a ruler by the emperialist states; virtual boundaries and boundarylessness that have entered our lives with the internet, a sine qua non of our age; borders constructed from stones in between free societies; ‘moral’ boundaries always imposed by the authorities; ‘the hunger line’ still faced by 840 million people worldwide; Felix Baumgartner, who jumped from space breaking the sound barrier and who uttered the words, “Limits, like fear, is often an illusion.”; Oscar Pistorius, who broke Olympic records with his double below-knee amputations; John Lennon who wrote the legendary song Imagine that made a call for peace transcending boundaries; the borders of Roboski where 34 lives, who earned their living from the “border”, slain by bombs...

Borders 2013 is like a humble gift dedicated to all who were able to see the eternities beyond boundaries.

There are fifty three texts in the agenda, all symbolizing different struggles of humanity with boundaries accompanied by about 60 visuals. Apart from the official dates for Turkey, the Agenda also features important dates and feasts of Muslims, Alevis, Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians and Kurds.

The previous agendas of the HDV Publications were themed Trials (2012), Crowds (2011) and Armenia (2010).
