This year 2015 is the centennial of a great tragedy regardless of how you name it - 1915 Armenian Genocide, the Great Catastrophe, the Deportation, The Massacres, etc. At the Hrant Dink Foundation, we dedicated our Agenda 2015 to this massive destruction that took place 100 years ago. It is our wish that the Agenda 2015, which is published in Turkish, English and Armenian, will contribute to observing the 1915 Genocide in different aspects, commemorating the victims that lost their lives, understanding the survivors that left and stayed, keeping alive what was leftover, speaking and sharing about the past and present with the hope for a better and more just future.

In this agenda that touches upon a different topic every week, you will read the stories of the prominent intellectuals of the Armenian community in Istanbul who were arrested overnight and exiled to their deaths. You will experience the stories and enduring legacies of those who managed to survive the death marches and were forcibly spread all around the world and continued their struggle to take root again. There are also stories of survivors who were forced to change their religion and forget their native language in order to remain in their homes. These stories are accompanied by biographies of conscientious statesmen who defied the forced deportations and the people today who play critical roles in breaking this century-old silence and denial through books and films. These stories also shed light on those who discovered their true identities in their fifties and embarked upon journeys to rediscover their roots.

We wish that the painful sufferings we will be witnessing in this agenda throughout the year will inspire us all to prevent the occurrence of new ones in the next years.
