Democracity is a role-playing game in which participants create their own cities through democratic means. During the workshop, participants are divided into small groups to develop strategies and a plan to build a city.
Each group selects building models that could exist in a city based on their chosen priorities and strategies, engaging in discussions with other groups before constructing their city. The workshop was developed in collaboration with the BELvue Museum, which hosts numerous rights-based learning programs in Belgium.

Learning objectives:
Developing the ability to generate alternative solutions in the face of various challenges and opportunities.
Encouraging a rights-based approach while promoting dialogue, mutual understanding, and collective democratic decision-making.
Enhancing negotiation skills through a dialogue-based approach to problem-solving.

  • Designed for 16-32 participants, conducted in-person
  • Duration: Approximately 4 hours
  • Suitable for ages 13-17
