“My Data, My Life” workshop, organized in cooperation with Gözlemevi.org within the scope of Tactical Tech's “What the Future Wants” project, was held on December 27, 2022 at the Hrant Dink Foundation with the participation of 13 people between the ages of 15-18. The workshop was organized within the scope of the project titled “Utilizing Digital Technology for Social Cohesion, Positive Messaging and Peace by Boosting Collaboration, Exchange and Solidarity.”
In the workshop, which started with the facilitation of Handan Uslu, the founder of Gözlemevi.org, it was noted that personal information is shared through technological products and that technology companies make profit in this way. Uslu stated that according to a method called ‘click economy’, technology companies can access users’ personal information and daily routines, but companies do not pay enough attention to users' privacy. It was pointed out that although the data accessed was also used in the process of designing the algorithms, companies did not take responsibility for the spread of certain contents such as hate speech.
Through games such as ‘dumpster diving’ and ‘yes or no’ throughout the workshop, participants discussed data privacy, privacy violations by technology companies, and what regulations could be made to protect data privacy."

This project is financed by the European Union.
