Within the scope of the Media Watch and Hate Speech Project, a workshop directed to local journalists was held on 25.06.2011 in Malatya. 18 journalists from Malatya, Mardin, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep participated to the workshop. The aim of the one-day workshop was to raise awareness against hate speech that reproduces prejudices in the society, supports discriminative feelings and provokes hate crimes.

Within the workshop project, project coordinators Nuran Ağan and Garen Aram Kapril gave an outline of the media watch and hate speech project, the newspaper scanning and the analyses within the project and introduced the webpage www.nefretsoylemi.org where the hate speech containing articles and news are shared.

Feray Salman from Human Rights Joint Platform gave a speech on hate speech in the context of international human rights treaties, Prof.Eser Köker made a presentation on how hate speech is produced within the media and Erol Önderoğlu on just reporting.
