Within August 24-30, 2020, three articles that generate hate speech were selected from print media. You can find three articles that contain hate speech against LGBTI+, Jews, and Greeks as well as the analyses written about them below. 

1. In the fourth part of her article series, Hümeyra Turan accuses Greek identity and incites enmity between peoples with the title and simplistic generalizations and comparisons in the article.

2. Targeting the Istanbul Convention and its supporters, Faruk Arslan targets various gender identities and sexual orientations by defining them as perversion with descriptions like “LGBT perversion”, “homosexual perversion”.

3. Reporting Israeli security forces’ bombing Hamas targets, Yeni Konya Gazetesi holds Jewish identity responsible for the attacks with the title “Jews attacked” and provocatively targets Jews.

4. In the article covering August 30 Victory day published in Bizim Anadolu Gazetesi, a hostile and insulting tone against Greek identity is used with the subheading “They went rabid once again” and the remark “The same Greeks with the same supporters attacked Turkey’s economic independence this time”.

^{1.Within the scope of the media monitoring work focusing on hate speech, all national newspapers and around 500 local newspapers are monitored based on pre-determined keywords (e.g. Traitor, apostate, refugee, Christian, Jewish, separatist, etc.) via the media monitoring center. While the main focus has been hate speech on the basis of national, ethnic and religious identities; sexist and homophobic discourses are also examined as part of the monitoring work.}
