Organized by Asulis Discourse, Dialog and Democracy Laboratory, the panel titled “Collective places for solidarity and coexistence with refugees” was held on Anarad Hığutyun Building Havak Hall on December 14. Moderated by Ezgi Tuncer, the panel was held with the participation of Kırkayak Kültür, which offers different alternatives for solidarity and coexistence with refugees through cultural events, and Kadın Kadına Mülteci Mutfağı under Okmeydanı Association for Social Cooperation and Solidarity.
Zeynep Hürbaş from Kadın Kadın Mülteci Mutfağı told about the story of Okmeydanı Quarter as a destination for Syrian migrants due to its central location and potential for finding temporary jobs easily. Talking about their works for realizing their idea of a collective kitchen, Hürbaş said that Kadına Mülteci Mutfağı is a place where women with different backgrounds come together.
Ayşegül Ateş told that Kırkayak Kültür, which was founded in Gaziantep in 2011 by a group of academics, artists and activities, is named after the Kırkayak Park in Gaziantep, which was a venue for cultural activities of the city in ‘60s. Stating that Kırkayak Kültür has changed with the migrants, Ayşegül Ateş said that they are seeking for promoting coexistence through culture and art activities in Antep.
