In the "Embroidering Memory" workshop facilitated by artist Damla Sandal, we will intervene in old photographs through embroidery, altering scenes of daily life, spaces, and people to create a connection between the past captured in the photos and the present moment we inhabit.
During the workshop participants will re-create photographs which serves as a "reminder".
Workshop content: Participants are required to bring a photograph on which they will embroider. The photograph may be one from the participant's album or one which has been purchased.
While embroidering the photograph during the workshop, we will discuss the connection this photograph has with human rights (achievement, solidarity, infringement, etc.). All other materials required for embroidering will be provided.
