The fifth of the workshop series organized under the scope of the project called “Utilizing Digital Technology for Social Cohesion, Positive Messaging and Peace by Boosting Collaboration, Exchange and Solidarity” will be held on November 9, 2023 at the Hrant Dink Foundation.

This workshop facilitated by Shmyla Khan and open to journalists and students studying in media departments aims to increase their knowledge about the safe use of digital tools and social media and raise their awareness about recognizing and understanding digital risks.

The issues to be covered in the workshop:

  • Identifying digital threats
  • Understanding the importance of digital security for journalists
  • Increasing knowledge regarding secure communication tools
  • Creating awareness regarding safe social media use
  • Documenting digital threats and disinformation

The workshop will be held in English. There will be simultaneous translation.
Workshop participation is limited to 20 people.
The duration of the workshop is 3 hours.

Shmyla Khan

 

Shmyla Khan is a researcher and campaigner on issues of gender, tech and human rights with eight years of experience in the field. A lawyer by training, Shmyla has served as a clerk at the Supreme Court of Pakistan and as an adjunct faculty teaching privacy law.
