The article published in Yeni Akit reports the written reprimand issued by the Arab League on Turkey’s Libya policy with the title “Arabs reprimanded Turkey over Libya”. The article holds the entire Arabic identity responsible for the action and targets the members of this identity.

Mehmet Çetin, in his column titled “It’s all wrong”, directly defines Jewish, Armenian and Greek identities as enemy and targets the members of this identities as we see in the following sentence: “Turks and Kurds are killing each other / Converted Jews, Armenians and Greek are enjoying it / That’s the real plot.”

Vehbi Kara, in his column titled “Soldiers exist to die for the interests of the motherland”, writes about the people who object to Turkey’s military involvement in the war in Libya: “However, converted Armenians, Greeks and Jews don’t like such operations. They just want to wear their uniforms to drink and dance in balls.” Thus, he uses Armenian, Greek and Jewish identities as insulting labels.

Within the scope of the media monitoring work focusing on hate speech, all national newspapers and around 500 local newspapers are monitored based on pre-determined keywords (e.g. Traitor, apostate, refugee, Christian, Jewish, separatist, etc.) via the media monitoring center. While the main focus has been hate speech on the basis of national, ethnic and religious identities; sexist and homophobic discourses are also examined as part of the monitoring work.
