Cemalettin Hacıosmanoğlu, in his column titled “Rediscovery, redemptive catharsis and Jerusalem”, uses the word “giaour” which is used as an expression of hatred and insult against non-Muslims in Turkey in the following statement: “It will show us the ones who sell Muslims to tyrants by using Islamic tradition as a guise, who are drowned in the pits of innovation and cause unrest in Muslim countries, who call the truth superstition and flirt with the giaour, who are played like pawns in imperialist projects in guise of the queen…” Thus, the columnist symbolizes non-Muslims as “threat” and “enemy”.

Yeni Konya, May 17, 2018

Yılmaz Altunsoy, in his column titled “You are coward, despicable, treacherous, idolaters”, strengthens the perception of non-Muslims as enemies by using the word “giaour” which is used as an expression of hatred and insult against non-Muslims in Turkey: “There is no point in being mad at the giaour. Giaours will be giaours and the tyrants will be tyrants of course.” Then, he labels Jews as a threat against Muslims and portrays them as enemies as we see in the following remarks: “To the so-called Muslims who make Jerusalem available to Zionist Jews and fake Muslims who facilitated, enabled and even encouraged Jewish atrocity so far” and “Mind you, I am not talking about ‘the lovers of the Zion’, but ‘servants of the Zion’. They are doing what their blasphemy tells them to do anyway. I am addressing the ones who are Muslim in appearance but Jew in essence and serving for Jews.” Thus, he incites the existing prejudice and hatred against Jews that the reader already has.

Ortadoğu, May 18, 2018

Kadir Yıldız, in his column titled “Hate of Hulusi Akar”, writes: “He retaliated against the Greek harassment in the Aegean in kind… Hulusi Akar Pasha mortified the Armenian deputy in NATO Parliamentary Assembly, while some people in Turkey were apologizing to Armenians, shouting ‘we are all Armenians’ and recognizing the so-called genocide.” In this way, he reinforces negative opinions about Greek and Armenian identities and labels Armenians and Greeks as enemies.

The article published in Yeni Akit with the title “They celebrate ‘Homos’ Day’ during Ramadan” labels LGBTIs as “pervert” and “immoral” because of their sexual orientations and gender identities as we see in the following statements: “CHP, which is always in the frontline for supporting LGBTI events legitimizing perversion and immorality, did the same thing again” and “CHP, which supports pervert homos of LGBTI who are the plague of Muslim Turkish nation, caused another scandal”.
