Nazar Büyüm, member of the Advisory Board of the Hrant Dink Foundation, publisher, writer, and translator, was commemorated on his birthday, April 9, with a conference held at the Anarad Hığutyun Building. Held for the first time this year (2026), the memorial conference honored Büyüm’s legacy, who had been closely involved with the Foundation since its establishment and left a lasting impact on Turkey’s cultural and publishing life through his work.
The event began with a video screening focusing on Nazar Büyüm’s life and contributions. This was followed by a talk titled “Working Together” by academic, poet, writer, and translator Cevat Çapan.
In his talk, Çapan discussed the possibilities opened up by collective work and collaboration, drawing on examples from various theater groups that emerged in different periods in Turkey. He highlighted how groups such as Genç Tiyatrocular, Ankara Art Theatre, and Genç Oyuncular created a strong cultural foundation by prioritizing collective production over individual success. He emphasized that these experiences demonstrate the transformative power of working together—not only in theater, but also in publishing and intellectual life.
Through this talk, Nazar Büyüm’s long-standing relationships, the spaces of production he supported, and his belief in dialogue were remembered once again.
The conference became a gathering that reminded everyone of the possibilities of thinking and producing together.
