The village of Habap, in Elazığ-Kovancılar, is where Fethiye Çetin's grandmother, Heranush Gadarian, was born and raised. Her story was told in Çetin's acclaimed book My Grandmother. At the initiative of the Hrant Dink Foundation, two historical fountains in Habap were renovated between August and November 2011, through the generous effort of village locals and Armenian, Kurdish, and Turkish volunteers from around the world.
This documentary tells the story of the renovation from Fethiye Çetin's perspective, and shares the transformative effect that the work on fountains had on the Habap locals, the volunteers, and the project crew. At the same time, the film presents an example on how a renovation project can contribute to fostering cultural awareness and coming to terms with the past.
