You are invited to our webinar, “Gendered approach to immigration” which will be held on 17th of December, Thursday at 18.00 (Turkey time). Please fill in the form below to register for the event.

In the discourses and policies of academia, media, civil society and public institutions, refugees are often considered as a "homogeneous" group, which causes various identities based on ethnicity, religion, gender and sexual orientation within the refugee groups to be neglected. In addition, discriminatory language against refugees is often used with their sexual identities.

In the panel titled "Gendered approach to immigration", with Aslı İkizoğlu from Sabancı University, Zeynep Kıvılcım from Berlin Humboldt University and Mert Koçak from Central European University, we will talk about the layers of discriminatory discourses and attitudes towards women and LGBTI refugees and the strategies to combat them.

The event will be in Turkish and English. There will be simultaneous translation from Turkish to English and English to Turkish.

The participation will be available through Zoom meeting and will also be broadcasted live on Youtube and Twitter accounts of the Foundation. The information and link of the Zoom meeting will be sent after the registration.
