The panel discussion on the ways of using art as a healing and transforming instrument will be held with the participation of Güneş Terkol, Evrim Hikmet Öğüt and Umut Sülün, who provide a platform to voice individuals with their artistic works. The panel will be moderated by Sena Başöz and held in Havak Hall on September 27, 2018 at 6.30 pm.

Güneş Terkol, graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Department of Painting in 2004 and then received her MA degree in Art Design from Yıldız Technical University in 2008. In her works, the artist shed a light on relationships between gender identities through fabric, sewing, sound and pattern. Believing in the importance of collective production, collaborations and coming together for a shared goal, she has been producing with Ha Za Vu Zu artist collective since 2005 along with her personal works and continues her performances with her new group GuGuOu. Evrim Hikmet Öğüt, received his PhD in Ethnomusicology from Istanbul Technical University in 2015 with his dissertation on musical practices of Chaldean-Iraqi transit immigrants during the course of immigration. Receiving his BA and MA degrees from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Department of Musicology, Öğüt works as an associate professor in department of ethnomusicology in the same university and carries out his works on musical practices of Syrian musicians in Turkey. Umut Sülün, studied sociology in Istanbul University. Then, he pursued his MA studies in Marmara University Department of Photography for a while. He organized exhibitions, performances and events at Fotoğrafevi between 2003 and 2009, and carried out projects. He worked as the coordinator of Fotoğrafevi Publishing and as the editor-in-chief of the magazine İz. Between 2010 and 2013, he worked for various exhibitions, publications and projects of Ara Güler. He contributed to various books, exhibitions and video projects as editor or coordinator. Since 2017, he has been working as the director of Ara Güler Archive and Research Center and is the co-curator of the first exhibition of Ara Güler Museum.
