Hrant Dink Foundation invites you to the panel entitled “How to promote equality while protecting free expression?” on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Article 19, a London-based human rights organization working for the defense and promotion of freedom of expression and freedom of information worldwide, will be the guest of the panel moderated by Prof. Yaman Akdeniz from Department of Law in İstanbul Bilgi University. Turkey Programme Officer Georgia Nash and Europe and Central Asia Programme Officer Joanna Szymanska from Article 19 will share their experience on LGBTI rights in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and current work in Turkey on freedom of expression, exploring possibilities for similar work in Turkey. The panel will be held on February 14, 2018 in Hrant Dink Foundation.
"ARTICLE 19 works for a world where all people everywhere can freely express themselves and actively engage in public life without fear of discrimination. We do this by working nationally, regionally and internationally to close the implementation gap between law and practice. We promote media freedom, increase access to information, protect journalists and human rights defenders, fight the shrinking of civic space, and place human rights at the heart of developing digital spaces."
There will be simultaneous translation from English to Turkish during the panel.
