Towards a New Discourse and Dialogue project aims questioning the existing prejudices against and misinformation about Syrian refugees and cooperating with public, media and civil society sectors for creating a new, human rights-based discourse in order to enhance the possibility of coexistence in Turkey. Co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, the project is conducted by four partners Community Volunteers Foundations, Support to Life and Sabancı University under the coordination of Hrant Dink Foundation.
Training for trainers program consists in the sessions covering the topics such as principles and values of human rights, discrimination and methods for combating discrimination, refugee rights, right based journalism, hate speech and alternative discourse, as well sessions aiming to enable participants to acquire training skills such as critical thinking, active listening and communication, and presentation techniques. The participants will have the opportunity to learn about the experiences of other participants from public, media and civil society sectors and share their own experiences.
Application requirements:
- The applicants must be currently working in public, media or civil society sectors in Istanbul, Hatay or Şanlıurfa.
- For the applicants who work in public or civil society sectors, the affiliated institution is expected to carry out activities concerning refugees.
- Two people from the same institution will be accepted to the program. The applicants working in the same institution must fill the application from individually.
- Prospective trainers must acknowledge and undertake to share the one-day education module within their institutions at t least once and then participate in the related reporting process.
Important information:
- The training program is designed with the informal education methodology based on interactive learning and experience. The number of participants is limited to 24 in order to ensure an active and efficient training process.
- At the end of the application process, the candidates in the short list will be invited to a preliminary interview.
- Full attendance is expected.
- The participants who cannot attend all sessions will be given a participation certificate.
- Changing participants is not accepted after the assessment,
- The program will cover transportation, accommodation and food expenses throughout the training.
Technical details:
- The trainer training program will be held in Istanbul on December 5-8, 2019. The participants who will come from other cities are expected to arrive one day before the program starts (December 4, Wednesday).
- All applications will be replied within 14 days after the application process is ended.
