PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

PACE Children's Art Center was founded in 2005 by artist Barış Karayazgan.

PACE provides an enabling environment for children where they can have artistic, cultural and social experiences in a free and creative setting furnished with healthy instruments.

PACE also carries out creative activities with children for children, in collaboration with various organisations. For 8 years, PACE has been designing tailor-made art activities for children taking part in the MiniFest organised by IKSV Istanbul Foundation of Arts and Culture as well as designing training programmes for youth and children as part of Istanbul Biennial. PACE has provided fun museum trainings for more than ten thousand children and young people at Pera Museum.

In addition to running the weekend arts activities at Akbank Sanat Beyoğlu since 2011, PACE implements Contemporary Art Education Programme at schools during the weekdays. PACE continues its collaboration with civil society organisations including TEG, TOÇEV, LÖSEV, TOG and Tohum Vakfı in various social responsibility projects as well as in creative and artistic activities for children.

PACE’s proposed fellowship activity will provide the candidates to experience a new understanding and approach towards children, arts, talent and creativity both in theory and practice. Overall, the fellow from Armenia will be expected to be open to hands-on experience on visual and plastic arts through new techniques and approaches; and to observe and contribute to various PACE programmes implemented at the Centre or other settings with children, young people, art practitioners and teachers.

The proposed fellowship opportunity will include the following activities:

  • To design and implement creative arts and arts training activities in collaboration with children, youth, art practitioners and teachers in various fields of visual and plastic arts including painting, sculpture, ceramics, özgün baskı resim, weaving, cartoons, miniature
  • To promote exchange of experiences about the role of art in the life of young people and children including their social and individual transformation, awareness and tolerance. To share his/her experiences from Armenia and other settings
  • To carry out preliminary work for designing and implementing possible joint projects between Turkey and Armenia in the field of arts training, particularly focusing on exchange between art practitioners and teachers

EXPECTED PROFILE 

Good command of English.

We welcome any individual who have previous experience working with children and young people or who wishes to get engaged in arts activities with children and young people. Having an education background in arts is not a prerequisite. Motivation to work with children and young people is far more important to us.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellowship activity days and hours will be planned in accordance with the school timetables of children and young people. The fellows will be expected to contribute to Centre’s activities for maximum of 3 full days and 2 half days.
