PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Civil Society Development Center Association (STGM) is established in 2005 by a group of activists to support stronger and more democratic civil society in Turkey. The mission of the STGM targeting the attainment of a strong and democratic civil society is to carry out advocacy, campaign, research, training and lobbying activities in its priority target areas in order to; ensure the development of participation and democracy in civil society, strengthen organisational capacity and autonomy, make the voice of civil society heard in decision making processes.
Besides Ankara, STGM has local support offices in Adana, Diyarbakır, Denizli and Eskişehir which are dynamic cities of Turkey.
Main aim of STGM is supporting capacity building of the civil society organisations in Turkey. Rather than monetary contributions, STGM offers capacity building activities to the civil society organisations. Target groups of STGM are civil society organisations working in the field of youth, environment, child rights, human rights, woman rights, gender equality, disabled rights, art and culture.
STGM supports dialogues and networks between civil society organisations to reach its aims.
The fellow is expected to carry out short interviews with representatives from civil society organisations working on different rights-based issues in different cities throughout Turkey, in order to help them communicate with their counterparts in Armenia and contribute to the normalisation process through civic dialogue. The fellow will use visual tools such as photography and/or video records, may prepare short movies or documents, which will be disseminated through social media in Armenia and Turkey. The fellow will also be engaged in disseminating the visual materials with the civil society in Armenia as much as possible.
Depending on the profile, the fellow may also be expected to follow the actions and campaigns of European rights-based organisations as well as the policies and actions of European institutions relevant to civil society, and to produce news and/or articles to be published at STGM’s web site and other social media pages.
EXPECTED PROFILE
- The fellow is expected to have at least volunteering experience in visual arts and/or visual communication design, mainly new media, photography and/or documentary-making.
- The fellow is expected to have engagement in the civil society in Armenia, and have interest in civil society organisations in Turkey.
CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The fellow is expected to be present at STGM office from Mondays to Fridays from 09:00 – 18:00. The public holidays in Turkey are days off.
