PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
ICT industry has become one of the most dynamic and promising sectors for both the Armenian and Turkish economies. The number of startups has been recently growing in both countries.
What are the achievements, trends and challenges of startups in both countries? What are the ICT industry development strategies adopted by the two governments? What are the legal instruments for founding, operating and growing tech startups in Armenia and Turkey? What are the investment environments? What is the best international practice? Finally, what are the possible ways to promote sustainable entrepreneurial relations between Armenia and Turkey?
While in Armenia, the fellow is expected to study the startup ecosystem in Armenia and come up with a comparative policy analysis addressing the questions mentioned above. The list of questions is non-exhaustive and can be further elaborated and modified by the fellow.
Furthermore, the fellow is expected to organize and moderate in-studio weekly discussions and interviews featuring new innovative initiatives in the country, success stories of Armenian startups, as well as the challenges they are facing. The fellow is welcome to involve Turkish ICT representatives in the discussions through Skype nterviews. The discussions and interviews will be held at the Media Center, a PJC-run platform aimed at bridging civil society and media in Armenia for unbiased discussions.
The discussions and interviews organized by the fellow will be broadcast live on the Media Center and the YouTube channel.
The fellow will also assist the PJC team in building contacts with, ICT experts from Turkey, as well as translating documents from English into Turkish and vice versa.
EXPECTED PROFILE
- Degree in social sciences, preferably in journalism, media/communication studies, economics
- Good research and writing skills
- Interest in Information and Communication technologies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Interviewing skills
- Fluency in English (both speaking and writing)
CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The fellow will be based at PJC office for 5 days a week, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 18:00 (free during the Armenian public holidays).
