As an institution of higher learning, the American University of Armenia provides teaching, research, and service programs that prepare students and enable faculty and researchers to address the needs of Armenia and the surrounding region for sustainable development, in a setting that values and develops academic excellence, free inquiry, integrity, scholarship, leadership, and service to society.

Depending on the duration of the fellowship, we propose various formats, on topics to be agreed between the faculty of AUA and proposed visiting fellows:

  • teaching or co-teaching one or more courses
  • modules for courses at the graduate or undergraduate levels
  • joint research projects
  • seminars, workshop for faculty, undergraduate and graduate students
  • public lecture series
  • joint research projects

EXPECTED PROFILE

The language of instruction at AUA is English. 

Fellows with background in any of the fields including Political Science/Regional Studies; Biodiversity Monitoring; Ecological Restoration/Conservation; Media /Journalism; Graphic and Commercial Arts; Literature; History/Archaeology (Cultural Heritage); Law/Human Rights; Civil Society; Public Health; Systems Engineering; Economics/Economic Development; Social Entrepreneurship; Management of NGOs should discuss parameters of visit and activities with our exchange program coordinator.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

AUA's academic year consists of 2 semesters:
Fall 2016: August 29-December 17
Spring 2017: January 16 – May 13 (Spring Break March 5-10)
Fellowship activity days: Monday-Friday, 9-6, Saturday & Sunday (weekends off – no class)

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP (JANUARY  – JUNE 2017)

AUA would consider the following formats:

1. 4 months between January-June 2017
(appropriate for candidates interested solely in research projects, lectures and workshops)

  • seminars, workshops for faculty and graduate students
  • guest lecturer in courses
  • joint research projects

2. 6 months from Januray to June 2017 
(appropriate for candidates interested in teaching semester-long courses at AUA)

  • co-teaching one or more courses
  • modules focusing on agreed topics for graduate and undergraduate courses
  • seminars, workshop for faculty, undergraduate and graduate students
  • public lecture series
  • joint research projects

3. 8 months from January – June 2017
(appropriate for candidates interested in teaching semester-long courses at AUA)

  • teaching or co-teaching one or more courses
  • modules for courses at the graduate or undergraduate levels
  • joint research projects
  • seminars, workshop for faculty, undergraduate and graduate students
  • public lecture series
  • joint research projects
