The History Department at Istanbul Bilgi University offers students the opportunity to develop the conventional skills of historical craftsmanship and to master the key concepts of historiography. Students are taught with the most current literature and about the latest theoretical and methodological discussions in various fields.
The fellow(s) could conduct research in Istanbul on any subject related to social sciences and humanities under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilmez or any other scholar at the Istanbul Bilgi University from whom they get an in-advance approval. As the programme coordinator, Prof. Bilmez will try to find ways of offering opportunity for every fellow to use also other facilities of the university.
A fellow is expected to give two public conferences on their hitherto and/or ongoing work(s) during one semester and could contribute to also one course in their filed if the fellow wishes to do so and if there is an agreement with an instructor of the department.
Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilmez has been coordinating a project at the Istanbul Bilgi University on the training of non-academic researchers on cultural diversity/plurality in Istanbul and any fellow is more than welcome to take part in project the way they wish.
EXPECTED PROFILE
Scholars in any field of social sciences and humanities would fulfill the conditions of fellowship if both parties find cooperation appropriate.
CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The fellow will be given a desk and sharing a room with two other colleagues at Santral campus. Other conditions will be decided between the fellow and his/her adviser.
Fellowship will be implemented at Bilgi University Santral Campus in Istanbul, Turkey.
PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP
4 to 8 months between September 2017 and June 2018.
