The purpose of the Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Researches and Solidarity Association (Kaos GL) is to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans individuals in embracing libertarian values, realising their own existence, and in cultivating themselves in order to contribute to the development of social peace and welfare together with the development of their individual, social and cultural life and behaviour.

Kaos GL adopts it as its working principle to make visible the activities of human rights organisations and LGBTI organisations working on human rights; to create added value for the activities carried out in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms by gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender and intersexual individuals, LGBTI organisations working in the area of human rights and other human rights organisations; and increase mutual understanding and exchange of experiences and improve and strengthen solidarity and cooperation opportunities between Kaos GL and other LGBTI organisations and rights-based NGOs. In its activities, Kaos GL endeavours to promote and spread the universal values of human rights. Committed to these values, Kaos GL informs all NGOs working in the field of the human rights of LGBTI about the implementation and results of its activities, and opens all its activities to the use and participation of rights-based NGOs.

The purpose of the Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Researches and Solidarity Association (Kaos GL) is to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersexual individuals in embracing libertarian values, realising their own existence, and in cultivating themselves in order to contribute to the development of social peace and welfare together with the development of their individual, social and cultural life and behaviour. The fellowship activity will be programmed together with the fellow. Possible activity areas vary from following up news from Southern Caucasus, the Balkans and the Middle East, to feminism and LGBTI-based international studies and activities. With reference to the above, the fellow will mostly be engaged in international events carried out under the human rights programme. These events include, in chronological order, the following: Anti-discrimination Symposium, Feminist Forum, Regional Network against Homophobia, and Anti-Homophobia Meet-up.

EXPECTED PROFILE

New graduates who have taken part in social movements (women’s and/or LGBTI movements), who has connections to local organisations and who is fluent in English will be preferred.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellow is expected to be present at least three days a week (7 hours a day) actual activity times can be discussed and rearranged with the fellow.

 Location of the fellowship will be in Istanbul, Turkey.

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP 

5 to 6 months between October 2017 and June 2018
