Public Journalism Club (PJC) unifies journalists, social media experts, and advocates to improve information dissemination through collaboration between new technologies and media. The institution is looking for fellows in the fields of journalism, PR and communications

The Fellow will join PJC’s Media Center (MC) Project to assist the MC team in monitoring the Armenian media regularly, identifying emerging issues of political, social, economic and cultural importance and proposing topics of debates and press conferences with the involvement of relevant state authorities, NGOs, experts and concerned citizens to be hosted at the Media Center. 

The fellowship activity at MC also includes editorial and PR work. The Fellow will assist the MC team in editing and designing various media outreach documents, such as MC press releases, announcements, etc., planning the content of publications according to the MC’s publication style and editorial policy. The fellow will also be responsible for developing publicity plans and online campaigns to promote the MC content via social media platforms. 

Media Center  project. Its mission is to facilitate dialogue, discussion and debate among civic group experts, politicians and the media, to focus attention on significant developments and issues and to create efficient platform giving voice to the civil society. 

Since 2013, the Media Center has hosted 865 discussions and debates, featuring some 2,262 speakers and addressing various issues: from electoral and democratic processes, violations of human rights, corruption, issues related to religious, ethnic and sexual minorities, gender diversity, the rights of women and persons with disabilities, to economic, environmental, educational and healthcare problems, as well as external relations and regional conflicts.

EXPECTED PROFILE

  • Education: University degree in Journalism, PR and Communications or related field
  • Professional background:
    • Media monitoring skills
    • Good writing and editing skills
    • Excellent communication and public outreach skills
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, journalism or other relevant field
  • Languages: Fluency in English (both reading and writing) 

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

5 days a week from Monday to Friday from 10:00 - 18:00. Depending on the arrangements with the fellow the hours can be flexible. 

The fellowship will be implemented in Yerevan, Armenia.

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP 

4 to 8 months between October 2017 and May 2018.
