Media Initiatives Centre (MIC) is a well-known professional excellence centre for journalists and a production house of TV shows and documentary films on key social issues. MIC is also a pioneer in media literacy in Armenia, as well as promoter of multimedia and new technologies.
MIC offers the following opportunities for young and enthusiastic professionals:
- Media Trainer specialised in one of the following areas: Data Visualisation; Fact-Checking and News Verification; Investigative Journalism. The candidate will design and develop a training module, including the content, methodology and assignments of the training. He/she will later conduct training courses for journalists and other media specialists.
- Film Director. The incumbent will join the Centre’s production team during their work on documentary films. He/she will be responsible for the visual component of the films, ensuring the creativity and quality of visual storytelling. The Film Director will work with the Cameraman during shooting and with the Editor and Graphic Designer during the post-production.
- Media Researcher. The candidate is expected to be an academician or a practitioner, who will be interested in studying any aspect of the Armenian media market. MIC experts will support the candidate with relevant background information, research materials and contacts.
EXPECTED PROFILE
- For the Media Trainer: MA and extensive experience in media, journalism or other related field; previous experience in developing media curricula and in acting as a trainer is a plus; excellent media analytical thinking; proficiency in English.
- For the Film Director: MA and up to 5 years’ experience in television production; good portfolio of documentary; good knowledge of English; good communication skills, ability to work as part of team.
- For the Media Researcher: excellent analytical thinking; be familiar with research methodologies; strong written skills.
CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The fellow is expected to be present at the office Monday to Friday and the daily hours are flexible.
The fellowship will be implemented in Yerevan, Armenia.
PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP
4-8 months from between October 2017 and May 2018.
