The main goal of the Yerevan State University Center for Gender and Leadership Studies (YSU CGLS) is to promote gender equality and leadership in the Armenian society. YSU CGLS provides comprehensive research, training, and outreach functions engaging Armenian higher education institutions, local NGOs and international agencies in training women for career promotion and professional leadership.

The fellowship opportunity offered by the Center is focused on the following areas: Gender Studies, Women’s Rights, Women’s Studies, Feminist Studies, Feminist Sociological Research. The fellow is expected to conduct a research on “Women’s Movement in Turkey: Armenian Women’s Representation”. 

The fellow is expected to conduct a research under the supervision of research coordinator on women’s movement in Turkey from its beginning to nowadays. The research will include also studying challenges and obstacles for the movement in Turkey. 

The fellow will have open access to events and courses offered by Center, as well as he/she will have an opportunity to participate in various events, conferences, and trainings organised by other departments of YSU, organisations, and NGOs.  The fellow is expected and encouraged to initiate and organise discussions and trainings with the assistance of the CGLS staff. If there is a research already conducted by the fellow he/she is more than welcome to present the results to wider audience in YSU.

The Center is equipped with both online and offline libraries. The fellow will have free and unlimited access to Arizona State University online library connected to the hundreds of databases of the world. The offline library includes contemporary literature on Women’s and Gender Studies and Sociological Research Methodology.

EXPECTED PROFILE  

YSU CGLS expects a highly motivated person who:

  • knows the basics of and has at least minor experience in conducting a sociological research (desk review/document analysis - minimal requirement)
  • is tolerant to diversity and makes her/his environment equality-friendly. 

Any person who can contribute to the development of the Center is welcomed.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellow is expected to conduct his/her fellowship activity from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 and 18:00. National and religious holidays will be specified during the fellowship.

The fellowship will be implemented in Yerevan, Armenia.

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP

YSU CGLS is ready to accept fellows for 4 months during university academic semesters (October 2017 to January 2018 or February to May 2018).  

The timeframe for the fellow will be specified after the selection.
