The HDF Education Scholarship program, launched by the Hrant Dink Foundation with the aim of contributing to university students' education, social solidarity, and the culture of living together, has completed its first year. Through the Edvin Minassian Fund and Health Sciences Scholarship, scholarship support was provided to six university students.

The scholarship recipients, who are pursuing their academic goals, received not only financial support through the HDF Education Scholarship, but also a strengthening experience in terms of social, cultural, and personal development.

Dialogue and co-existence kept alive in Edvin Minassian's name

The scholarship fund created in the name of Edvin Minassian, who contributed to Turkish-Armenian dialogue throughout his life, reached two students studying social sciences at state universities in Istanbul. One of the scholarship recipients, as a History department student at Boğaziçi University, is interested in oral history studies, learning Armenian, and actively contributing to volunteer projects.

The other scholarship recipient is pursuing a double major in Linguistics and Translation Studies at Boğaziçi University. She says she builds bridges between her volunteer activities at HDF and school:

"By connecting similar topics at school with the projects I work on at the foundation, I brought some activities to school through clubs and the student representative council."

Students carrying hope for the future in health sciences

The Health Sciences Scholarship reached four students studying at Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa and Istanbul University. Students studying in fields such as medicine, nursing, and pharmacy were able to more comfortably cover their accommodation, transportation, and education expenses thanks to the scholarship. One scholarship recipient described how their participation in social life changed:

"With this scholarship, I was able to meet my needs and even participate in social activities. I made it a tradition to go to a movie almost every week at Istanbul's historic cinemas (Atlas, Beyoğlu) and attend theater performances that came up."

Another student described the solidarity environment the scholarship provided as follows:

"As I participated in the foundation's events and volunteer activities, my awareness of social responsibility, empathy, and the culture of living together with differences increased significantly. My biggest takeaway from this process was seeing that an individual can continue a meaningful journey not only through academic success, but also through their relationship with society, sensitivity, and contributions."

This transformation was made possible thanks to the supporters

The HDF Education Scholarship program has grown not only individual success stories, but also faith in a more equitable, participatory, and hopeful future. The support provided to students not only facilitated their academic progress but also strengthened their bonds through volunteer activities and social solidarity. This transformation was made possible with the support of donors who contributed to the program.
