The COVID19 outbreak and its global spread not only threatens our health but it also affects social, economic and cultural order in various dimensions.

Sadly, socio-economically disadvantaged groups, individuals who cannot self-isolate themselves due to their work, refugees, people deprived of water and hygienic conditions are amongst the ones that are most impacted by the pandemic as well as its consequences.

In a world where the pandemic and injustice are all around, as an organization, we are well aware of the value of not only pecuniary solidarity but also moral solidarity. We do believe that we will overcome these difficult days through solidarity, sharing and giving hope to each other.

We do hope that we will get through this pandemic, which threatens our health and claims tens of thousands of lives, not through polarization and marginalization, but through mutual understanding, being kind to each other, supporting one another and forming global networks of solidarity.

Like many other organizations, as the Hrant Dink Foundation, we have taken our precautions and we have temporarily closed 23.5 Hrant Dink Site of Memory. We have postponed all our planned events to a further date. We have switched to home office mode, continuing our research, production and accomplishing our tasks from our homes. We are aware of the importance of keeping our hopes high and preserving our spiritual resistance at these hard times which test us with many hardships and all sorts of anxieties. Thanks to all the opportunities offered by technology, we will continue reaching out to you, thinking together, producing and sharing our ongoing work with you by using new means.

We wish health, strength and hope to all the friends of the Hrant Dink Foundation. We wish a speedy recovery to all those who are sick and to those whose loved ones are struggling with the disease. We pass our heartfelt condolences to everyone who lost their loved ones. We would like to express our gratitude to all of the healthcare professionals who are amongst the most important risk groups in these extraordinary conditions and to service sector employees who strive for life to continue.

We may be apart in four corners of the world, but we are together, and together we are much stronger. We do hope that this disaster leads to a better world…
