Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant continues to increase direct contacts and to promote cooperation between the peoples of the two neighbouring countries.

During August-November 2018 application period, Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant received a total of 83 applications from both countries. We are delighted to announce that in this round, thanks to the support of the UK Government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund, the Hrant Dink Foundation in partnership with Gyumri Youth Initiative Centre will be offering support in the form of a travel grant to a total of 26 individuals – 19 from Armenia,7 from Turkey - for their visits to the neighbouring country with specific purpose and programme. Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant 17^th Round Grantees

Sona Mkrtchyan from Abovyan will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Izmir for conducting interviews with groups of elderly and young people about their memory of Armenians as part of her research on the influence of media tools on memory, cooperating with Turkish Ex-EVS Association.

Mariam Gevorgyan from Artik, Hayastan Martirosyan and Meri Gevorgyan from Yerevan, students of Yerevan State University, Institute for Armenian Studies, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for participating in classes at Bilgi University.

Talin Büyükkürkciyan Demirci from Istanbul, one of the founding members of Çatı Contemporary Dance Artists Association, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Yerevan for conducting contemporary dance workshops at Mihr Theatre.

Misak Hergel, Cem Çapar and Lora Çapar from Antakya, representatives of Surp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Church Foundation of Vakıflı village, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit village Musaler for conducting oral history interviews with the local people.

Samvel Grigoryan from Yerevan, a public health educator representing Tree of Life NGO, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for establishing academic contacts with Koç University School of Medicine to be able to conduct a comparative analysis of healthcare systems of Turkey and Armenia, as well as establishing contacts with youth, health and environmental NGOs in Turkey for further cross-border cooperation.

Barbaros Altug from Istanbul, the author of the novel “Wounds In My Soul” which will be published in 2019, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Yerevan for doing research in the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, making interviews and visiting the places which will be described in his book.

Liana Kosakyan from Berd, Lusine Kosakyan and Arsen Momjyan from Yerevan, representatives of Frontline Youth Network NGO, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul to launch the second round of the “Act to get to Peace” photo exhibition in Turkey in partnership with Istanbul&I NGO.

Ruzanna Azizyan, a writer, and Gayane Vardanyan, a translator from Yerevan, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for meeting with Turkish writers and literary agents to establish cooperation and write a cooperative Turkish-Armenian book.

Şahin Başol from Denizli, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Yerevan and enroll in voluntary activities through Armenian Volunteer Corps.

Almira Nikoghosyan from Gyumri, an EVS mentor from KASA Foundation, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for organising training at Istanbul University aiming at cross-cultural dialogue, peace and tolerance building between Armenian and Turkish youth, as well as promoting volunteering projects among Turkish youth.

Anna Yeghiazaryan and Manvel Vatoyan from Yerevan, representatives of TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for attending the 15th season of FIRST LEGO league in Turkey to find possibility of initiating a FIRST LEGO league in Armenia.

Ani Simonyan and Mariam Harutyunyan from Yerevan will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for making research on hate speech in Turkish media and preparing a documentary movie about Armenians and Turkish people who live together in peace to promote good examples.

Mehmet Ilhanli from Istanbul will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Yerevan for meeting with No Hate Speech Movement Armenia representatives, different media outlets, NGOs, students and youngsters for conducting surveys and interviews to measure the impact of media on youth in terms of hate speech. 

Atom Mkhitaryan, a lecturer from International Scientific Educational Center of National Academy of Sciences and Astghik Avetisyan, an associate professor from Yerevan State University, faculty of Journalism, both from Yerevan, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for exploring higher education system in Turkey in order to publish a scientific article on comparative analysis of doctoral studies in Armenia and Turkey. 

Svetlana Avetisyan, a student from Yerevan State University, and Serine Avetisyan, a programme assistant at Teach For Armenia, both from Spitak, will be supported with Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul for participating in the evaluation meeting after local follow-up projects that the groups from Armenia and Turkey implemented as a result of “Urban Steps for Resilient Future” regional training.
