The National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA) dates back to 1921. More than 95 years of history resulted in formulating traditions which contribute to the preparation of professionals in architecture, construction, urban services and ecology, design, management and technologies, by meeting international standards and requirements of labor markets.

NUACA provides higher education and professional qualifications within the four-cycled levels, including doctoral studies. The university regularly organizes international conferences, seminars and workshops, and publishes scientific journals, as well as scientific and methodological literature.

NUACA is the first university in Armenia with European accreditation, conducted by the Evaluation High Council of Research and Higher Education (HCERES, France) and the Agencia Nacional de Calidad y Evaluación of Acreditación (ANECA, Spain).

Since 1994, the degree granted to the graduates of the Faculty of Architecture has been officially recognized by the government of France as equivalent to the French diploma. The last decision on the recognition of the diploma was taken in 2017 for a period of five years.

NUACA has more than 60 cooperation agreements with various educational institutions across a wide geographic range. The university is equipped with modern laboratories.

AREA / SUBJECT OF THE FELLOWSHIP

The area of the fellowship can be either of the following topics;

  1. Landscape architecture or landscape urban development
  2. Seismic resistance

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY

The proposed fellowship activity on landscape architecture and urban development:
The purpose of urban landscape architecture is to establish the harmony between nature and urbanization. In this case harmony implies minimizing the loss of nature during urban development or recreating green areas. It is a remodeling of nature with maximum preservation and harmony with the human environment. Nowadays those issues are very important all over the world, and their inclusion in the process of modern design is very important. The kind and the level of the natural landscape remodeling, the variety of development, the density of the street network, and other characteristics of the landscape determine the type of urban landscapes and their spatial structure. The fellow is expected to conduct lectures for students, by introducing them to the main directions of landscape architecture or landscape urban development and its application in world practice.

The proposed fellowship activity on seismic resistance:
Within the fellowship, together with NUACA’s professors, the seismic resistance construction specialist is expected to organise joint lectures. The lectures will be attended by the PhD students, and Master and Bachelor Degree students of the Architecture and Construction faculties. In addition to the lectures, the invited specialist will participate in the research procedure carried out by the professors at NUACA, and will discuss opportunities for further collaborative research projects. Within the chair of Building Structures, discussions on the issues related to Seismic Resistance Construction Laboratory and its further development will be held, and the invited specialist is expected to share his/her recommendations in this regard. The fellow should combine theoretical courses with practical training.
