The Women's Resource Center was founded in 2003 by women from Armenia and the diaspora, and is the first resource center created in the post-soviet Armenia for young women. At the beginning it was located inside the Yerevan State University campus and served as a drop-in center for young female students. From 2006 WRCA moved to the downtown of Yerevan and now is open for women of all ages, education, sexual orientation and social backgrounds. WRCA is working in the area of women's human rights, reproductive and sexual rights, sexual violence and women's role in the conflict resolution and peace building in the region of South Caucasus.

AREA / SUBJECT OF THE FELLOWSHIP

Women’s Rights: art-activism or SMM

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY

There are 2 main areas we expect the fellow to work.

1st: This fellowship opportunity is in the field of art-activism (including sport). WRC is trying to voice women’s issues by the help of art-activism, as well. It is expected from the fellow to suggest and create art materials (for example videos, photo stories, feminist zines etc.) to raise feminist issues through them. We encourage the fellow to suggest her ideas and to work in any field of art which is preferable for her.

2nd: This fellowship opportunity is in the field of SMM. WRC has founded “Shuhel” social entrepreneurship which members are our beneficiaries and most of them are violence survivors. Group members create handmade bags, rings, bracelet etc. and sell them mostly by the help of social media pages. We need SMM specialist who will join the group and will promote the activation of social media (Facebook and Instagram) pages.

EXPECTED PROFILE 

For the 1st fellowship:

  • Gender sensitivity and desire to bring about a positive change in the field of women’s rights
  • Ability to work in a flexible and resilient environment
  • A non-judgmental approach and ability to work with people from all walk of life
  • Good artistic abilities, creativity, imagination and enthusiasm
  • Good interpersonal, communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Armenian (preferable)
  • Good Knowledge of English

For the 2nd fellowship:

  • Gender sensitivity and desire to bring about a positive change in the field of women’s rights
  • Ability to work in a flexible and resilient environment
  • A non-judgmental approach and ability to work with people from all walk of life
  • Good interpersonal, communication skills
  • Experience in managing and using social media platforms for communication activities (mostly on Facebook and Instagram)
  • Basic photography skills
  • Good Knowledge of English

WRCA is working every day except Wednesday and Sunday from 10:00-18:00

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP

Any one between April 2020 and May 2021 can be defined upon the agreement of the host and the fellow.
