“Pink” human rights defender non-governmental organization (Pink Armenia) was founded in 2007. Pink is a community-based LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans) organization, which has been established by LGBT community, serves and supports the needs of the community, and promotes the LGBT persons’ human rights protection process and advocates for the change of public policy around LGBT issues.

Pink provides a full range of services to LGBT community representatives whose rights have been violated on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression. Moreover, the organization represents the needs and interests of LGBT people, as well as advocates for solutions and legal protection of these issues at local, state and international levels.

The area of the fellowship activities are for media or communication specialists

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY

Pink is looking for a fellow who is specialized in the field of media and/or communication to conduct research about disinformation and hate speech in media, mostly focusing on LGBT issues and media manipulations.

With the help of the fellow and the research we would like to find, the mechanisms that manipulations are using, to see the timing, goal, the environment when such articles are created and disseminated, why it happened, what is the connection with the existing situation, how it affects public opinion.

EXPECTED PROFILE 

Work experience and/or background in media sphere of dealing with the communications or knowledge in social sciences. Sharing and accepting the values of organization (diversity, equality, safety) and having non-discriminatory approach.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Office working days: Monday-Friday, except national holidays. Working hours: Monday 10:00-17:00, Tuesday-Friday 10:00-19:00. We have 6 hour working day plus one hour lunch break. The fellow can choose the preferable shift (10:00-17:00 or 12:00-19:00).
