Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST) is a non-profit organization established in 2017 with the mission to build an ecosystem that drives technological innovation and scientific advancement in Armenia and beyond. FAST envisaged a holistic model of Science, with Education-Research-Commercialization being the pillars working synergistically, and driving infinite development of the ecosystem. In this holistic model Science, as a body of knowledge, is preserved by Education, extended by Research, and exerted by Commercialization. This model is used for the strategic development of programs and projects at FAST. Each project is aimed at strengthening a specific component and assure smooth process dynamics within each pillar.

Priority fields of the organization are AI & Data Science, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology and Robotics.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY

The Fellow will follow the activities of the Innovation District project. Innovation District (ID) is a 55-hectare area of the city where the boundaries of innovation are tested through experimentation labs, acceleration and incubation spaces, a data center, business centers, advanced prototyping centers, smart solutions, a living lab environment and more. Much of the innovation created, explored, and tested within the district is powered by a regulatory sandbox that serves as a test ground for government regulations and policies on disruptive technologies which can later be scaled through the country and the world. The vision of the district is to create an innovative national model for commercialization of science and re-imagination of urban communities. The mission is to offer globally competitive education, research and innovation infrastructure that induces knowledge generation and commercialization in STEM.

The Innovation District will serve as a venue for co-creation and open innovation, prototyping government-sanctioned innovations, regulations, and policies to meet national priorities and goals, and The District will be composed of 13 distinct components, including a University, Prototyping Center, Science School, Business Park, Residential Area and more. The Fellow will work on developing TORs for each of the components of the District. S(he) will also develop the architecture and design tender announcement for the whole project.contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.

EXPECTED PROFILE 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture/Design/Construction Management, with experience in creating architectural tender announcements, and TORs for architectural projects.

20 working days (4 weeks, Monday-Friday), 160 working hours

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP

Any one month between April and August 2020 upon the agreement of the fellow and the host.
