Armenian Progressive Youth (APY) was founded in Yerevan, Armenia in 2009 and is one of the largest youth driven organizations in Armenia. APY aims to support, inspire and engage young people from Armenia and all over the world to develop their social leadership skills, to take their civic responsibility and to act as change-makers. At the heart of our efforts is boosting the potential of young people, empowering, engaging and inspiring them to succeed as citizens, entrepreneurs and change-makers. We do it by building capacities, helping youth to acquire new knowledge and skills, providing mobility opportunities and engaging youth in volunteering programs.
Armenian Progressive Youth NGO (APY) has been working with young people since for 10 years. Our mission is to promote active citizenship and active political and economic participation of young people in civic life, to economically empower marginalized youth and promote youth entrepreneurship, to increase the activism of young people and contribute to the development of civil society in Armenia. APY tries to bring positive changes into Armenia through active engagement of young people in the society. APY has implemented around 300 local, national and transnational projects involving 25000 young people from Armenia.
The main experience of the organization lies within the areas of education for active citizenship, youth economic empowerment, active participation and civic education. The organization pursues several goals which are also strongly connected to the areas covered by the project.
Organization aims at:
- fostering active citizenship and youth participation by improving understanding of democratic values and principles among young people;
- building capacities of youth and providing personal and professional growth through non-formal education and volunteering programs;
- stimulating accessibility of young people to non-formal education opportunities and enhancing transparency in youth work;
- strengthening educational and intercultural exchange between youth of Armenia and Turkey.
AREA / SUBJECT OF THE FELLOWSHIP
The fellowship activities will be on youth work, particularly on active Citizenship and education.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY
Due to the lack of communication, the viewpoint of “otherness” in media and number of historical and political issues, young people from Armenia and Turkey live in societies full of prejudices and hatred. We believe that youth in Armenia and Turkey is the most active part of the society which can become a catalyst for change.
Thus, during one month fellowship program, the fellow will have the opportunity to initiate some events in the organization, like discussions on the current issues related to the civil society and youth work in Turkey, trainings on the specialized fields, etc.
The fellow will be engaged in the working processes with volunteers. Volunteers are the core part of the organization, and each six month Armenian Progressive Youth NGO hosts more than 50 volunteers who are developing their skills in 2 fields: Project Management and PR & Communications. The fellow will attend the Project Management group meetings, assist the Group coordinator and give consultancy to the volunteers in the implementation processes of the projects.
Events in the evenings on the culture of Turkey and Armenia will be organized on the culture of Armenia and Turkey in order to create the grassroots for further collaborations.
Through this Fellowship we will give young people from Armenia a chance to meet, to work together, understand differences and similarities, exchange the experiences and develop cooperation with the fellow from Turkey.
EXPECTED PROFILE
We are looking for a fellow who is social and creative, communicative, resourceful and eager, with previous experience in youth work, as the Armenian Progressive Youth NGO is a youth organization. Research and project management skills will be an added value.
The fellow has to be confident with the English language.
The fellow must be willing to undertake different kinds of work and creative activities, especially in non-formal education. The fellow should be ready to take initiative and get involved with youngsters.
CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The office works from 12 pm up to 6 pm. The schedule is quite flexible.
During the week-ends the Fellow is free to organize his/her leisure time.
The information about holidays will be communicated to the Fellow directly.

Any one month between 5th of September 2020 and 5th of December 2020.
