Kodluyoruz is a social enterprise working to make Turkey a talent hub in technology sector. Our major programs and projects are:

  • Kodluyoruz Academy provides boot camps (3-4 month technical and soft skills training) that prepare driven, unemployed/underemployed young people, ages 18-29, for employment in high-value technology fields. We work in around 10 cities across Turkey and train hundreds of new developers for the high-value technology sector annually in web development, mobile development, and data science & machine learning.
  • Alumni Club is a lifelong learning community for our graduates, bringing youth together to find solutions to their own problems. The youth themselves organize study groups, sector talks and workshops for their career development.
  • Kodluyoruz Junior provides STEM education for younger generation and women. We work with BSH in Cerkezkoy to educate 1,000 children from public schools every year. EMpower Foundation also supports us to train youth 14-16 in public schools and vocational schools.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY

We would like to work with the fellow on the expansion of Kodluyoruz by finding and applying for grant opportunities, and building new international partnerships. Kodluyoruz has a goal of training at least 25% of developers needed by Turkey’s economy (120,000 new developers in a year are needed by the sector) in five years. So, we need to expand both geographically and programmatically (especially by blending our in-person bootcamps with online education). Apart from our Turkey focus, we would like to discover international expansion opportunities, too.

To do so, we would expect the fellow to find and apply for new grant opportunities. Also, partnership development for international expansion opportunities would be an important activity.

EXPECTED PROFILE

  • Strong expertise in grant research, grant writing and partnership development;
  • International connections with civil society, especially organizations working on youth skills development;
  • Business and private sector connections are strongly preferred, especially in the tech sector;
  • If possible, we would like to host a fellow who can connect us with the institutions Armenia, who can work in the same field.
