History Department of Istanbul Bilgi University is a prestigious department well-known for its broad-minded and critical perspective teaching courses on the history of the premodern and modern Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic. Study Group on the Cultures of Turkey, on the other hand, is led by a colleague from the department and is composed of a small group running projects on cultural (confessional and especially linguistic) diversity in Turkey.
AREA / SUBJECT OF THE FELLOWSHIP
The fellow shall have a focus on cultural diversity, being interested in Armenian culture and history in Anatolia can be an asset. It is preferable that the fellow is also interested in gender studies
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY
The fellow is supposed to share her/his research agenda with the colleagues and give one talk on of the topics s/he suggests based on his/her research agenda. Candidates who have a particular interest in Armenians of the Ottoman Empire and/or Anatolia or the history of Armenia, in general, will be preferable.
EXPECTED PROFILE
The fellow shall hold or be in the research period of his/her Ph.D. education in one of the disciplines of Humanities or Social Sciences.
CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Regular contact with the contact person and cooperation with the academics in the department.
PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP
One month between May, October-December 2020 or February-May 2021.
