GAR is founded on September 21, 2017 with the aim of conducting research on migration, taking part in the multidisciplinary migration research, supporting migration research and researchers, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge produced in these studies, and enabling a professional solidarity, communication, collaboration and interaction among the migration scholars. We also aim at providing solutions to scientific, institutional, and ethical problems that the migration researchers face. Last but not the least, we aim to contribute in raising public awareness regarding the problems un/documented migrants, asylum seekers and refugees confront.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED FELLOWSHİP ACTIVITY

  • We are expecting the fellow to participate in our ongoing activities, such as seminars or workshops
  • We are expecting him/her to meet members of the association and discuss the possibilities of further collaboration in the future.
  • We are expecting him/her to make a presentation (in the format of a seminar) in order to present his/her current activities and/or research related to migration topics.
  • We are expecting him/her to provide us with a written piece (3-5 pages) on migration-related topics. This paper has to be delivered at the end of his/her stay in Istanbul, and he/she should accept that we publish it on our website and disseminate it via our social media accounts.

EXPECTED PROFILE 

  • A researcher, academician or NGO member who has a specific focus on migration-related topics (A prior knowledge to the (e/im)migration flows in Turkey is required).
  • The fellow should have a master-level or a higher academic degree.
  • The fellow should be at least 25 years-old.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

There are no obligatory workdays or working hours at the office, but we expect the fellow to visit some of the members’ workplaces in order to meet them in person. (As most of our members are academicians in various public and private universities, we expect the fellow to visit their workplace, to meet them and discuss further cooperation possibilities.)
