PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Dialog in Culture: Armenia-Turkey 

Promoting mutual collaboration between Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival and Erivan Women's Film Festival (KIN)

Developing creative projects which will contribute to dialogue of the nations and historical bound between two countries from the perspective of gender with drawing on culture and art possibilities and their constructive impact on the nations

Reuniting the cultures of two countries - from the perspective of labour of women-

Making improvement in documentation and memory studies/comprehension studies within the perspective of women

Our office will host scholar for eight months and required job description is as follows - in priority order-: 

Preparing a section in the festival titled as ''Hello Neighbour: Armenia'' along the collaboration with Erivan Women's Film Festival for the 20th edition of Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival (2017) (Films shown at the film festival are collected and gathered under 10 sections approximately in each year). “Hello Neighbour” will be one of these sections and will be prepared exclusively for 20th year anniversary). 

Contributing to the work of archive of the ''Database of Women Filmmakers in Turkish Cinema'' project which have been preparing by Flying Broom. 

Designing a project titled as '' Gender Montage'' which will be created as 1 minute ''Border'' themed films of 10 women directors from Armenia and Turkey (The project scholar prepare will be carried out in the presence of the fund after 2017)

Making interviews with and preparing news about women working on culture and art in Armenia (painter, writer, filmmaker, sculptor etc.) and publishing them on official website of Flying Broom (Turkish or English)

Translating a publishing produced under the Flying Broom prestige projects to Armenian language (optional) (Example 1:translation of a dictionary and information kit which consists of 10 booklets prepared within the framework of Child Brides Project) 

(Example 2: Preparation of Armenian Subtitles for the spot films which have been prepared within the framework of Honey Bees are Becoming Engineers project) 

Meetings and Visits: 

The Scholar can visit various women's, child rights organizations, human rights and media organizations, universities and can make experience and exchange opinion through the scholarship program within selected days and time schedules which will be determined with Flying Broom team/crew.

EXPECTED PROFILE 

  • Interest and possible experience in gender issues.
  • In-depth knowledge and interest in culture, arts and specifically on cinema. 
  • Excellent skills in writing and speaking English and/or Turkish.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellow is expected to be present at our association from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00. In case of occasional meetings and activities, the fellow may be requested to assist the association during the weekends.
