PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Agenda the Child Association works in the media field for almost ten years. The basic aim of the media studies with children is not only to make room for children to participate in the decision-making processes that concern their lives; but also to bring child rights violation into view.

Thus, the proposed fellowship activity aims to work with a journalist from Armenia on children’s rights reporting. During the fellowship, the fellow will participate in Agenda the Child’s media studies and will share information on the situation of children’s rights reporting in Armenia and if possible will convey to Agenda the Child Association on examples of best practices from Turkey.

Agenda the Child Association aims at organizing a seminar and/or a workshop in collaboration with the fellow for the students of the communication faculties. It is anticipated that at least one journalist from Armenia and one from Turkey, experienced in children’s rights reporting meet up with the students for experience sharing, discussing the situation and possibilities of rights-based journalism with a focus on children and will work for further collaboration opportunities.

EXPECTED PROFILE 

  • Good command of English and Turkish could be also an asset 
  • Preferably graduate of faculty of communication
  • Work experience in media studies, journalism and children’s rights
  • Willingness to collaborate with journalists and students of journalism departments on children’s rights and journalism
  • Strong report writing skills and good command of analytical point of view
  • Have organisational skills
  • Experience in child rights, human rights and rights-based organizations
  • Have no obstacle to travel
  • Not allergic to cats, since we have two cats at our office :)

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellow is expected to be present at the association’s office from Monday to Friday between 10:00 - 17:00. The fellow will have days of during the public holidays of Turkey.

Association may request fellow’s assistance and support during the weekends or evenings, in exceptional situations.
