PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Okan University was founded by Okan Culture, Education, and Sports Foundation in 1999 and began its academic life in 2003-2004. Since the 2006-2007 academic year, the rapidly growing university has been located in its new and modern Akfırat campus. Now, it reached 63 undergraduate, 41 master and 13 Ph.D. programmes under eight faculties, two vocational schools and three graduate schools.

Department of International Relations particularly aims

  • To accumulate necessary knowledge required to keep up with the globalizing world and to live as effective individuals in a changing world
  • To see practical applications of international relations and political science theories as well as get familiar with them
  • To participate in decision-making and policy-making mechanisms of national and international public and private institutions

During the Fellowship Scheme, the fellow is expected to:

  • Teach one or two classes per semester (optional, upon the approval of the Department and the Dean)
  • Organize at least two seminars/workshops with faculty and students per semester
  • Participate in the events that the Department and/or the Center organizes
  • Help with developing a student exchange programme

EXPECTED PROFILE 

  • Expert in international relations, political science, regional politics or related fields with at least an MA degree
  • In case of absence of an MA degree, at least 3 years of experience in his/her field
  • Team-player
  • Proficiency in English

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

In case of teaching one class in line with European Higher Education standards, the fellow is expected to be on the campus 3 hours a week for the course plus 2 hours for student advising and abide by all the requirements of teaching a class, overseeing the exams for the particular class, including the make-ups. The semester starts in mid- September and lasts till mid-January with a 16 weeks long class schedule.

The fellow is expected to organize and participate in (at least two, depending on whether the fellow is teaching or not) two meetings with the Department and students, to participate in departmental events, and contribute to the Center and its course/project development initiatives.

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP (JANUARY  – JUNE 2017)

4 months from February 2017 to May 2017
