PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

In the spirit of the Latin ‘Civilitas’ – a citizen’s responsibility to society – the Civilitas Foundation encourages the responsibility of every citizen to contribute to the realization of a functioning and prosperous democracy and promotes the right of every individual to benefit from his/her full potential.

Civilitas contributes to peace and stability in the Caucasus and beyond, guided by the principle of consistent, open and objective discourse, utilizing cultural, educational and political dialogue, cutting edge technologies, and aiming to include the resources of the global Armenian community. Civilitas would like to host a fellow who understands the media environment and has skills and competences in organizing news-room related activities, in any of the following areas:

  • News production
  • Video production
  • Data journalism
  • Writing and reporting
  • Editing
  • Graphic design

Civilitas would like to receive contribution from fellows in improving CivilNet's work, the independent online media outlet of the Civilitas Foundation. What would be most appreciated is experience-sharing by somebody who has worked in a similar environment in Turkey, who understands peculiarities of online media, can recommend tools and methodologies of online livestreaming and creative design of news, who understands the broader political and cultural environment, including its restrictions. The fellow may also assist the journalists working on Armenia-Turkey projects, reporting on and from Turkey by sharing his/her networks, assisting with finding new themes and faces, interpreting the Turkish political, economic and social realities. The fellow will cooperate with the CivilNet crew under the guidance and supervision of CivilNet Editor in Chief.

EXPECTED PROFILE

The fellow is espexted to have:

  • Experience in the media/academy,
  • Good research and analytical skills,
  • Good knowledge of Armenia/Turkey context.
  • Good command of English

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellow is expected to be present at the Civilitas Foundation five working days a week, from 9am- 6pm or 10am- 7pm, with official holidays prescribed by Armenia law. If requested by the fellow, religious holidays may also be granted.

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP (JANUARY 2017 – JUNE 2017)

4 to 6 months, starting from January to June 2017.
