PROPOSED FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellowship may cover areas related to the experience and on-going programmes of Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” NGO (YIC), particularly the ‘’Youth House’’ project. The project aims at creating a Youth House facility in Gyumri that will be the hub of youth active citizenship initiatives, youth engagement by providing the youth of Gyumri with the skills, knowledge, and competences necessary.

As a result of the project we will have a Youth House facility in Gyumri which which will be offering variety of the services essential for youth. By achieving the objectives of the project we will support and enhance community activism in Gyumri as well as support democracy and youth policy development in Armenia. 

The project will start in January 2017 and will end in January 2020. 

Thus, within “Youth House” project, YIC would expect assistance which will include the following:

  • Research of existing international experience and networking with possible organisations/institutions already experienced in the field
  • Support in development of the model suitable for youth work in Gyumri for the specific target group (teenagers and young people with fewer opportunities)
  • On-line donation system and crowdfunding strategy which will be used to get resources for the continuation of the project and the initiatives thereof
  • Promotion and fundraising events in Gyumri and other city cities of Armenia
  • Space and support for own initiatives.

EXPECTED PROFILE

The fellow should have at least Bachelor’s degree (preferably Master’s degree) in Social Sciences, Social Work, Development Studies, Business Administration or any other relevant field with at least one-year working experience in the non-profit or public sector with a good command of English. Knowledge of other foreign languages is desirable. 

YIC will give preference to candidates with communication and graphic design skills and under 35 years old in order to be able to integrate him/her into the working environment of peers.

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

  • The fellow is expected to be present at YIC for 35 hours from Tuesday to Saturday including language course, flexible in case of special events e.g. if the fellow is contributing more hours on one day or week, he/ she will get hours/ days of compensations when wished.
  • Days off: Sunday and Monday, except in case of special events taking place on the weekends, in that case the two consecutive days off will be taken after the event.
  • Holidays: 2 days off per worked month, national holidays are free and religious holidays of the fellow too, if wished. The days off are cumulative and can be taken anytime in agreement with the host organisation.
  • YIC will provide the fellow with a working space, permanent access to internet and other relevant supplies and materials but fellow is expected to use their own computer while at the office.
  • YIC will also provide support and training (if necessary), tailored coaching to the fellow to perform the requested task in the best manner.
