The Hrant Dink Foundation has published “Hrant” in Eastern Armenian. The biography was written in 2010 by Tuba Çandar, a Turkish journalist and author. The book weaves Hrant Dink’s biography by assembling a mosaic of memories from Dink's family, friends, and comrades. Dink's own "voice," in the form of his writings, is also interspersed throughout the book.

Hrant Dink struggled for the democratic rights of all Turkish citizens, including the right to speak freely about the Armenian genocide. He struggled for the democratization of the Turkish political system. Dink was prosecuted three times for "insulting and denigrating Turkishness" and was assassinated by Turkish nationalists in 2007. As founder and editor-in-chief of the bilingual Turkish-Armenian newspaper, Agos, in 1996, Dink was the first secular voice of Turkey's silenced Armenian minority.

“Hrant” provides a unique introduction to Hrant Dink, the values he promoted and his struggle. The biography also reflects the challenges of the Armenian community, the case for minority rights and democracy in Turkey.

"Hrant" is the sixth among Hrant Dink Foundation Publications translated into Eastern Armenian. It is preceded by four books from the “Sounds of Silence” («Լռության ձայնը») series and “Your Man in This Column” («Այս սյունակի մարդը»), a collection of Dink’s articles published in various newspapers between 1996-2007.

The publication of this book was made possible with the support of the Olof Palme International Center.
