The Center for Modern Turkish Studies, CEMTS, supports original and top-notch research on TURKEY within the context of the Social Sciences and Humanities contributing to the creation of knowledge concerning the last two centuries.

Within the framework of the Turkey-Armenia fellowship program, Istanbul Şehir University The Center for Modern Turkish Studies will accept fellows conducting research in the disciplines of literature, humanities and social sciences, international relations, Turkish-Armenian relations, foreign policy, Turkish politics, minority issues, film, history, anthropology, and sociology and political science. The research in Istanbul to be conducted by the fellows is expected to focus on areas such as Armenian history and culture in the Ottoman Empire or Turkey, Armenian literature and language, comparative literature, film and documentary.

EXPECTED PROFILE

Istanbul Şehir University expects selected fellows to teach at least one course during the fellowship and present their research in a seminar within the university. The courses of preference but now limited for teaching are;

  • Armenian language and culture in the general
  • Ottoman Armenian culture in the specific.

Fellow will also contribute any of humanities and social sciences (Cinema-TV, history, international relations, sociology etc.)

CONDITIONS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The fellows are provided with a university i.d. and library card as well as shared office space. The fellows make use of all academic facilities of Şehir University.

 Location of the fellowship will be in Istanbul, Turkey.

PROPOSED TIME FOR THE FELLOWSHIP 

4 to 8 Months between September 2017 and May 2018
