Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) is committed to supporting the development of arts, culture and creativity in the city of Yerevan and beyond Armenia’s borders. We run “Nest” artists in residency program (AiR) which is a community centre and residency for arts and cultural workers, providing a healthy and balanced environment for the participant to fuel cohesion between Turkey and Armenia by the means of art. Another supplement of ICA along with Nest, accessible for shorter stays/side projects is the performing arts festival “ARe” which is an ongoing program, providing an elaborated platform with a special emphasis on supporting artistic performance.

We welcome professionals who are planning to conduct research/artistic practice/curate which will in turn strengthen relations between Armenia and Turkey. Within the framework of our AiR program, we would love to have an artist from Turkey, who can be a resident in our community centre. The fellow can have his/her proposal related to development of Armenia-Turkey relations, in the field of contemporary art. Our organisation offers a platform from which a participant can build and achieve their projects through the use of our adequate facilities, gallery space and extensive network of people within varied fields to suit one's needs. The fellow will implement his/her project/s in Armenia and have a final presentation or exhibition. The fellow can research or investigate how art and culture can play a role in strengthening of Armenia-Turkey relations. Being a resident in ICA, the fellow will have an opportunity to be part of the ICA ongoing projects. This will enable the development of mutually beneficial projects and partnerships. It also opens up a number of challenges, choices, and decisions for artists.

As a component of ICA, ARé intends to enlarge its interests in performance arts adding for the next edition where another segment will be concerned with the city, citizens and the community in general. We nurture the cross-fertilisation of ideas in a challenging and artistically rigorous environment. Artists are encouraged to experiment with different approaches to the creative process in search of outcomes that cannot be predicted in advance. A fellow wishing to participate or contribute to ARe will have an interest specifically in public performance with the involvement of technology.

We will appreciate projects, where an artist from Turkey can collaborate with his/her colleagues in Armenia and create common artworks. Undertaking such projects will help them explore, realise and develop a concept(s) to their potential, widen access to a bonding perspective and ultimately enrich Turkey’s and Armenia’s reputation as a distinctive partnership connected to the world.

Our staff will assist the fellow for technical and administrative support and help him/her for the realisation of ideas, provide contacts of other cultural organisations, organise meetings with other artists .
